Thank you to the Burton family for joining us today to help us remember Alec and his legacy - he loved the club and he loved junior tennis and did all he could to promote it for many years

Having built up the junior section of the club from a zero base , there were 300 juniors receiving free volunteer led coaching every Wednesday night and many of our current adult members came through his coaching programme 

Thank you to his daughter Liz Wardlaw , his son Alec and wife , together with grandchildren Ali Burton and Alana with her husband too for joining our special day 

We recognised Alec’s commitment to the juniors by presenting the Burton Boys and Girls shields for the most improved players which he presented shortly before his death in 2023 and also the junior sports personality of the year award

Members also played for the adult Burton Shield - awarded to our club mixed doubles champions
